In parts of Romania (my ancestral homeland!) the accepted way of dealing with a vampire is to hunt down his corpse during the day and tear out his/her heart. Then you
grind the organ up into a fine powder and put it in wine, making each victim drink.
This will not only kill the vampire but cure any victims of the demon's curse.
So... you may want to pass on that red wine at dinner when in Romania!
